24 Famous People Who Meditate

Who are some famous people that meditate?

In this post we’ll find out.

I remember in Tim Ferriss’ book Tools of the Titans (not an affiliate link), the intro to the book he mentions the five most common habits or tools across all of his interview subjects.

And the most consistent habit is having a meditation or mindfulness practice. Tim states that more than 80% of people have a related practice.

So it shouldn’t be hard to learn about many people’s meditation practices if so many of them have it.

So let’s get to it.

Celebrities Who Meditate

Meditation is practiced by many ordinary people, as well as celebrities.

Perhaps, then, it is not surprising that all these successful people begin to practice.

With so many celebrities taking up meditation, it’s pardonable to think it’s just the latest fad that’s here today and gone tomorrow. You just need to let go of all clouding thoughts to really reap the benefits of the practice. [Sources: 3, 6, 7]

‘When people start meditating, they often think they’re wrong because they can’t clear the thoughts out of their heads. If you’ve ever tried meditation, you know that your mind can easily go into the absurd.

Ms Kidman said that for her, meditation wasn’t a transcendental practice, just sitting quietly with her eyes closed and listening to her heartbeat. Ms Kidman also believes in making the most of technology to propel her on the path to happiness, and uses a meditation app on her phone that has a timer that shows her everyone who is logged in and meditating at the time. David Lynch meditates

In 2013, David Lynch learned transcendental meditation practice and sold most of his wardrobe to support the David Lynch Foundation to further promote meditation in education.

Eva Mendes

Eva Mendes practices Transcendental Meditation (TM), which she learned from David Lynch and believes she can keep her calm and relaxed. In 2013, Ellen DeGeneres launched her show, saying she had been practicing Transcendental Meditation every day for 3 years and it had changed her life. Oprah Oprah Winfrey has spoken many times about her enjoyment and routine of transcendental meditation practice. [Sources: 0, 2, 5]

Oprah Winfrey has openly stated that she practices meditation daily, and this practice allows her to perform at a high level. Looking at how productive this woman is, it’s no surprise that meditation helps her achieve what she does.

In recent years, Oprah has even hosted meditation competitions to encourage more people to try meditation.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga meditates. She even posts videos about meditation and mental health.

She says that she suffers from PTSD and manages it every day.

Ellen Degeneres

Ellen Degeneres, the talk-show host, also meditates.

She says that meditation is like shutting down a computer and restarting it. That that is what meditation does to her brain.

That’s a great analogy. Sometimes just a simple pause (even just sitting still and quietly) can be hugely beneficial for us (definitely is for me).

Kobe Bryant

The late Kobe Bryant also meditated.

He famously said that he “meditates every day. It’s like having an achor. If I don’t do it, I feel like I’m constantly chasing the day as opposed to being in control and dictating my day”.

Sam Harris

I start with Sam because he is so into meditation that he has his own app about it.

It’s called Waking Up and it is my primary meditation app (though I also use others).

Sam is into meditation enough that he not only has his own meditation app, but he interviews other meditation and psychology teachers.
